A disconnected OMS prevented scalability
Since 2018, Rocket Shippers has served small- to mid-sized enterprises with fulfillment services, last-mile delivery, and returns management. They’ve supported dozens of brands with white-glove service — and as their customers have grown, so too have their operational complexities.
Rocket Shippers Product Manager Dante Brittis describes the company’s need to evolve alongside its brands. “In many cases, our clients will start out in a single-node location, but as they grow and become more sophisticated, they need cheaper and faster shipping,” he said. “We didn’t really have a real solution for this. So our customers would use their own order management system (OMS), whether that be through Shopify or another tool.”
The customers were in control, and Brittis’s team had to manually coordinate between the different systems customers used, risking human error and costly mistakes. The effort also required multiple manual touchpoints and team interventions to ensure everything stayed on track, sapping precious time from the workday. “Different parts of the day were dedicated to updating different processes,” Brittis said.
Internally, Rocket Shippers didn’t have an order, warehouse, and transportation management platform, which resulted in disconnected operations that stood in the way of growth.
“When we work with our brands, we need to make sure each aspect of those different modules is integrated and well connected,” Brittis said. “When data flows through each module, it needs to work in a coordinated manner.”
Rocket Shippers needed a dedicated 3PL software solution to deliver a better experience for their team and customers.
Solution
All-in-one omnichannel fulfillment software
Choosing Extensiv made all the difference. Extensiv gave Rocket Shippers visibility into order management, warehouse management, and transportation management tools from a single pane of glass.
“With our business, there are a lot of different requirements based on our clients,” Brittis said.
Having such a robust platform with a lot of different functionality would enable us to work with brands we typically wouldn’t have been able to work with in the past.
Extensiv WMS has significantly impacted operations while saving time and money for their customers. The team can easily add new carriers and create freight options across multiple channels for their different brands, saving time and money. “This has enabled us to offer a more robust shipping solution to our customers, which is typically their highest cost at the end of the day,” Brittis said.
Rocket Shippers also integrated with Extensiv Network Manager, a solution that provides full visibility into inventory, order, and transaction data from all existing warehouses all in one place. Network Manager allowed them to automate key touchpoints, creating a trickle-down effect on efficiency and quality. In the first year after integrating with Network Manager, Rocket Shippers did over 150,000 orders — a 28% increase from the previous year.
“Network Manager helps us route orders between multiple warehouses and insert a lot of different business logic, looking at the real-time inventory between both locations and choosing which facility to send that to,” Brittis said. “This leads to cheaper shipping and faster transit times to the end customer.”
The platform is, well, extensive, and Rocket Shippers has access to Extensiv’s robust customer service team if and when they need assistance.
Results

Using Extensiv, Rocket Shippers has saved hours of time and streamlined operations to deliver a more efficient service. It’s also fast-tracked growth and boosted their bottom line. “It definitely helped us improve revenue at the end of the day,” Brittis said.
In fact, he adds, Extensiv has opened the door to many opportunities Rocket Shippers couldn’t imagine before.
One of these revenue streams is directly linked with Network Manager. By using order bots, Rocket Shippers has set up multiple if/then logic statements to automate what typically would’ve been a very manual process. Instead of forcing the team to intervene on numerous orders, Extensiv automates the workflow and removes unnecessary tasks.
Extensiv has added so many different services and revenue streams for us as a business. They’ve been key for us to scale with our customers and enabled a number of different revenue streams.
Automations like these have saved hours each day, freeing the team to focus on broader issues and strategic initiatives instead of managing day-to-day tasks.
